Dissecting the Guggenheim Bilbao by Frank Gehry

We all know the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. It is the museum of modern and contemporary art designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry in the Basque Country of Spain. Visit the museum website at guggenheim-bilbao and a virtual tour at

"The randomness of the curves are designed to catch the light"- Gehry.

Opened in 1997, it was immediately hailed as one of the world's most spectacular buildings in the style of Deconstructivism. It has a structure that consists of radically sculpted, organic contours, even its titanium panels resemble fish scales. "The greatest building of our time"- architect Philip Johnson.

Learn more about Frank Gehry at and his website and listen to his own words in the video bellow. Note that you may choose the subtitles in your language.

Travel with Gwyneth Paltrow to Bilbao and interview Gehry himself.

A great dissection of the challenges of building the Guggenheim Bilbao was done by National Geographic's Engineering Connections, hosted by cutie Richard Hammond (Top Gear). It really worth watching the 5 videos bellow.
